Development:

Violence towards children, but known as child abuse, is a medical and social phenomenon known as battered child syndrome (NMS).
Since the theory of attachment, child abuse is a phenomenon that affects the relations between a child abused with their carers, and which is characterized by inadequate care for the normal development of people. It has to do in many cases, relationships with attachment type avoid, it would be an indicator of a certain type of rejection that children experience at these ages to and from their parents.

While it is a phenomenon that in recent times has become known so significantly since the media have helped in this, it is not just a matter of contemporary present, but that is a historical constant, greater or lesser extent se ha ido in presenting the times, in various ways; even begin to analyze certain cultures, we would note that there have been forms of belief in which children were slaughtered as an object of appreciation to the gods. Thus, the child was not seen as such, the concept that was totally radical of them was that of today: they were "an adult in miniature." In this regard, they did not have the same care that today can be given, had no rights that could protect them and safeguard their physical and psychological integrity, being "personitas" vulnerable to a demanding society.

Today, the phenomenon is still in force. While there have recognized the rights of children, proclaimed by the General Assembly in its resolution 1386 (XIV) of November 20, 1959, and confirmed by the Convention on the Rights of the Child 1989 (UNICEF, 2006), is have improved the conditions and laws that they hold, we are in a terrible problem that has not wanted to leave the lives of infants. As France R. (2003) "Only in Latin americas and the Caribbean there are 185 million people under age 18, of whom 50% are children and adolescents. Nearly 6 million children and adolescent girls are suffering severe physical assaults, and 80000 die each year. " In addition, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) revealed in 2003 that more than 3,500 under age 15 die each year in the most industrialized countries because of physical abuse. In abuse can be found various ways:

• Physical Abuse
• Abandoned physical
• Emotional Abuse
• emotional Abandonment
• Münchhausen Syndrome by proxy
• Institutional Abuse

In all these cases are indicators that appear to account for the physical, emotional and psychological care of children:

• Signs repeated physical (purple, bruises, burns ...)
• Children who are dirty, smelly, with inadequate clothing, etc..
• Fatigue apathy or permanent (usually sleep in the classroom)
• Significant change in the conduct school for no apparent reason
• Aggressive Behaviour and / or severe and persistent tantrums
• Relations hostile and distant
• Attitude hipervigilante (on alert, suspicious ,...)
• Conduct sexually explicit, gambling and knowledge inappropriate for their age
• Conduct masturbation in public
• Child avoids going home (stays longer than usual at school, playground or around)
• Have a few friends at school • shows little interest and motivation for homework
• After the worst weekend back to school (sad, dirty, etc.).
• Presents frequent pain without apparent cause

Analysis of data obtained from the UNICEF in Chile

According to data that have been found in UNICEF Chile there is a decrease in aggression towards children in 2006 compared with the year 1994 in terms of violence "severe physical" and "mild physical", having an important increase in "psychological violence" with a 14.5% in 1994 and 21.4% in 2006, as in the category "no violence" with 22.5% in 1994 and 24.7 % In 2006

Referring to all these findings, one could assume that such a decrease in physical aggression, could be issues of social norms and values that will shape the behavior within the family unit (which many of the times can be seen from outside) but At the same time changing the way of physical abuse by a more subtle as is psychological, which indicated a substantial increase over previous years.

With regard to the difference of aggression received by a parent, the data show that the first show the trend of a more psychological than physical aggression, with a percentage of 16.3% in 1994 and 22% in 2006, being the mothers dominate the use of aggression "severe physical" and "mild physical", with a percentage in the first of 28.3% in 1994 and 21.2% in 2006, showing a decrease for not inconsiderable.

One might assume that mothers show a trend of increased physical aggressiveness towards children, for reasons that may have little to do with obedience on the part of children, which would use force to put pressure on their children so coersiva to develop certain tasks, but should not be ruled out as other factors also could be drug use, family tensions and mental problems.
In the same vein, perhaps the parents do not need to physically assaulting children for certain tasks by figures showing "respect" or rather fear, where only be necessary words but with violent content, to put pressure on children to meet their tasks.this makes sense because it says a fact sheet of UNICEF (2006), in attitudes, customs and practices, corporal punishment as a method of discipline, to perform tasks are one of the practices used by most parents.
Everything that we pointed out above is just a small part of a large field of factors that affect aggression in children and that determine a greater or lesser tendency to physical or psychological aggression, which makes us bear in mind the important role that satisfies the context for talking about one or another factor.

As an attempt to move forward on this issue, the November 27, 2007, the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly adopted resolution of the rights of children which includes a focus on eliminating violence against children. The resolution requests the United Nations system and other partners to ensure the monitoring and dissemination of the UN studies that reflect the recommendations of the studies. The resolution also requested the Secretary-General to appoint through a period of three years a Special Representative on violence against children. It is hoped his serving as the independent and profile global advocate to promote prevention and elimination of all forms of violence against children in all regions at the same time to avoid a duplication of effort.
